NC HOSA Scholarship Program

The NC HOSA Scholarship Program allows NC HOSA partners to contribute $500 or more to recognize academic excellence.  Scholarships are awarded on merit, academic achievement, leadership skills, and community service. Donors are invited to attend the State Leadership Conference to present the scholarship awards.  Scholarships may be named with amounts of $500 or more.  Any amount received under $500 will be deposited into the general scholarship fund. 2024 NC HOSA Scholarship Application

 

NC HOSA Scholarship information is listed below.  Please complete all areas of the application by March 7, 2024.  Scholarship interviews will be held if requested by the scholarship sponsor.

All applicants will submit a color photo, resume, unofficial transcript, essay describing future career plans, 3 recommendation letters, one of which must be from your HOSA advisor/Health Science Education teacher, and FAFSA document. Some scholarships may have additional required submissions.

Resume should include: Career Goal; Health Science Education classes taken with grade earned; community service involvement including the number of hours; leadership; number of years in HOSA; awards, honors, and/or educational societies.

 

Shawn Blanton Memorial Scholarship

The Shawn Blanton Scholarship is in memory of Shawn Blanton, a former Health Science student at Smoky Mountain High School, who was killed while on duty with the North Carolina Highway Patrol June 17, 2008. In high school, Shawn took an active role in his HOSA Chapter. He was Co-President of his local chapter and a regional, state and national competitor in CPR/First Aid. He also exemplified the model student and citizen. This $500 scholarship is given to a student from the Western Region in memory of Shawn Blanton to recognize a HOSA member who brings the best of themselves to HOSA. Please submit a one-page essay describing your future career plans.

 

Northern Regional Hospital Scholarship

The Northern Regional Hospital Scholarship is provided to a student in the Piedmont-Triad Region or Northwest Region. The scholarship is in the amount of $1500.

 

Johnson and Wales University Scholarship

Open to high school freshman - seniors. Student must attend/plan to attend Johnson and Wales University. Students who compete in the following events at SLC: Sports Medicine, HOSA Bowl, Biotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Health Education, and Public Health. Freshman, Sophomore, and Juniors may "bank" their scholarship money until they attend college at Johnson and Wales University. Amount of scholarship corresponds with how you place in the listed events.

1st place - $2000

2nd place - $1500

3rd place - $1000

All are renewable up to 4 years. Once the student is accepted to Johnson and Wales their scholarship is applied.

 

Atrium Health In Your Future Scholarship

Open to any HOSA student that is a high school senior, with a miminum 3.0 Unweighted GPA, and is interested in pursuing a degree in a healthcare related field. The scholarship amount is $1000.

Hugh Chatham Health Foundation Scholarships

The Hugh Chatham Health Foundation Scholarship is awarded to any high school senior HOSA member that lives in Surry, Wilkes, Yadkin, or Alleghany counties. The scholarships are $2,500 each and two will be awarded.
